Trout Fishing - A Simple Joy
Trout Fishing - A Simple Joy. Rainbow Trout can be one of the most enjoyable freshwater fishes to catch, especially if the water you are "fishing" on happens to be moving. Although rainbow trout can be found in most lakes, and ponds. However I think that God intended for them to be caught in the running water of a river or stream. There are a number of effective ways to catch Rainbow Trout, when you are "fishing" for them in the flowing waters of rivers and streams.
The fishing technique that you will use is really very simple and it only requires a couple of things. First of all you are going to need: a small barrel swivels, some split shot sinkers, a few gang hooks, along with some live worms. You should bring along a bait bag to carry the worms in. The great part about this "technique" is its simplicity. The fact that this technique is so simple is what makes it so effective.
Your goal here is to bounce your live bait off of the bottom of the river or stream, as it is flowing naturally down the stream. To accomplish this you are going to want to tie a small barrel swivel to the end of your line. Then you are going to take a set of size 8 or 10 gang hooks and put them on your line. Now At this point you are going to want to add just enough split shot to get your bait to sink to the bottom. You should start with 2 and see what happens from there. Remember that there is always going to be some experimentation involved until you are able to determine the correct amount of weight. Now, just add a live worm to the hook, and you are all ready to go. Just cast the rig parallel to yourself, and simply let it flow naturally downstream with the current as it bounces off the bottom. You might end up getting snagged from time to time, it's inevitable. Just remember that when this happens you're not fishing in the right place.
This is the most effective way to catch rainbow trout in running water. Also using the same rig, along with an egg sinker instead of split shot, will work just as well for lake "fishing" too. The great thing about gang hooks is that they allow you to present the live worm in a completely natural manner to the fish, the way that God intended it to be, this gives the angler a huge advantage.
